Gingival treatment (Periodontology)
Tooth cleaning
This is the mechanical removal of tartar and bacterial plaque accumulated on the tooth surface.
Curettage (root surface cleaning, deep cleaning)
It is a deep cleaning treatment performed to stop the progression of gum diseases. This procedure is the cleaning of the infection 4-6 mm deep, which has started to progress towards the root of the tooth, not the surface. It is very important for the elimination of deep gingival pockets formed by the removal of dental calculus and bacterial plaques that are located under the gums, on the root surfaces and cause melting in the jaw bones.
Operation Flap
In advanced cases where tartar and bacterial plaque cannot be removed by tooth cleaning or curettage, the gums are opened and the tartar, inflammation and bacterial plaque reaching to deep points are cleaned. At the same time, necessary regeneration (replacement of lost bone) procedures are performed according to the extent of bone destruction. Bone formation is supported again with artificial bone grafts. An opening is made in the gingiva with the incision made during the flap operation. This opening is closed with postoperative sutures. When the healing process is completed, a healthy tooth and gum structure is created.
