Implants and Maxillofacial Surgery
Implant
It refers to inanimate substances placed in the body and living tissues. Dental implants are artificial tooth roots that allow fixed or removable dental prostheses to be made on them, usually in the form of titanium-based screws placed in the slot opened in the jaw bones to restore the function and aesthetics of one or more missing teeth.
Encloused Teeth
It is called teeth that have not erupted in the mouth despite the passage of time. Extra teeth that have formed and cannot erupt are also included in this scope. All of the impacted teeth may remain in the jawbone or they may not be visible because they are actually in the right place and there is only soft tissue on them.
The reasons why a tooth is encloused include not having enough space in the jaw for the tooth to erupt, a different tooth, bone or gum preventing eruption, and the tooth being in a different location than its normal position. The 3rd molars, also called wisdom teeth or wisdom teeth, are the most commonly encloused teeth. Small molars, canines and incisors can also become encloused.
Jaw Cysts
Pathogenic formations with fluid in the mouth, usually found in the jawbone area or tooth roots, are called jaw cysts. Cysts can be caused by tooth or jaw origin. Neglected decayed teeth can cause cystformation in the jaw. In general, they do not give symptoms during the growth processes in the jaw bones.
